Edward Hicks, The Peaceable Kingdom, Worcester Art Museum, c. 1833
The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, the lion shall eat straw like the ox; but the serpent--its food shall be dust! They shall not hurt or destroy on all my holy mountain, says the Lord [Isaiah 65:25].

- Blessed are the poor in spirit : for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
- Blessed are they that mourn : for they shall be comforted.
- Blessed are the meek : for they shall inherit the earth.
- Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness : for they shall be filled.
- Blessed are the merciful : for they shall obtain mercy.
- Blessed are the pure in heart : for they shall see God.
- Blessed are the peacemakers : for they shall be called the children of God.
- Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake : for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
- Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you and say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
- Rejoice, and be exceeding glad : for great is your reward in heaven : for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you. Amen

Veni Sancte Spiritus, et emittecoelitus lucis tuae radium;
veni pater pauperum, veni dator munerum,
veni lumen cordium;
consolator optime, dulcis hospes animae,
dulce refrigerium;

in fletu solatium.
O lux beatissima, reple cordis intima
tuorum fidelium.
Sine tuo numine nihil est in homine,

Flecte quod est rigidum, fove quod est frigidum,

Da virtutis meritum, da salutis exitum,
da perenne gaudium. Amen. Alleluia.
Come, Holy Spirit, and give out
the heavenly radiance of your light;
come, father of the poor, come, giver of gifts,
come, light of all hearts;
best of comforters, sweet guest of the soul,
refreshingly sweet;
rest in labour, calm in the storm,
solace in weeping.
O most blessed light, fill the inmost heart
of thy faithful.
Without your power there is nothing in a man,
nothing is wholesome.
Wash what is soiled, water what is parched,
heal what is wounded.
Bend what is set firm, warm what is cold,
rule over what has gone astray.
Give to your faithful, who trust in you,
your sevenfold gifts.
Reward the virtuous release the rescued,
give joy for ever Amen. Alleluia.

John Rutter: Requiem

Soli Brass, Cantica Sacra, Frans-Aert Burghgraef conducting [YouTube]
Requiem aeternam
Psalm 130: Out of the deep
Sanctus – Benedictus
Agnus Dei
Psalm 23: The Lord is my shepherd
Lux aeterna
Requiem aeternam dona eis Domine:
Rest eternal grant unto them, O Lord:
et lux perpetua luceat eis.
and may light perpetual shine upon them.
Te decet hymnus, Deus in Sion:
Thou, O God, art praised in Sion:
et tibi reddetur votum in Jerusalem.
and unto thee shall the vow be performed in Jerusalem.
Exaudi orationem meam,
Thou that hearest the prayer,
ad te omnis caro veniet.
unto thee shall all flesh come.
Kyrie eleison. Christe eleison.
Lord have mercy. Christ have mercy.
Kyrie eleison.
Lord have mercy.
Psalm 130: Out of the deep
Out of the deep have I called unto thee, O Lord: Lord, hear my voice.
O let thine ears consider well: the voice of my complaint.
If thou, Lord, wilt be extreme to mark what is done amiss: O Lord, who may abide it?
For there is mercy with thee: therefore shalt thou be feared.
I look for the Lord; my soul doth wait for him: and in his word is my trust.
My soul fleeth unto the Lord: before the morning watch, I say, before the morning watch.
O Israel, trust in the Lord, for with the Lord there is mercy: and with him is plenteous redemption.
And he shall redeem Israel: from all his sins.
Pie Jesu Domine, dona eis requiem.
Blessed Lord Jesus, grant them rest.
Requiem aeternam dona eis Domine.
Rest eternal grant unto them, O Lord.
Pie Jesu Domine, dona eis sempiternam requiem.
Blessed Lord Jesus, grant them eternal rest.
Sanctus – Benedictus
Sanctus, Sanctus, Sanctus,
Holy, holy, holy,
Dominus Deus Sabaoth.
Lord God of hosts.
Pleni sunt caeli et terra gloria tua.
Heaven and earth are full of thy glory.
Hosanna in excelsis.
Hosanna in the highest.
Benedictus qui venit in nomine Domini.
Blessed is he who cometh in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in excelsis.
Hosanna in the highest.
Agnus Dei
Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi,
Lamb of God, who takest away the sins of the world,
dona eis requiem.
grant them rest.
Man that is born of a woman hath but a short time to live, and is full of misery. He cometh up, and is cut
down like a flower; he fleeth as it were a shadow.
Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi,
Lamb of God, who takest away the sins of the world,
dona eis requiem.
grant them rest.
In the midst of life, we are in death: of whom may we seek for succour?
Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi,
Lamb of God, who takest away the sins of the world,
dona eis requiem.
grant them rest.
Psalm 23: The Lord is my shepherd
The Lord is my shepherd: therefore can I lack nothing.
He shall feed me in a green pasture: and lead me forth beside the waters of comfort.
He shall convert my soul: and bring me forth in the paths of righteousness, for his Name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me;
thy rod and thy staff comfort me.
Thou shalt prepare a table for me against them that trouble me: thou hast anointed my head with oil, and
my cup shall be full.
But thy loving-kindness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house
of the Lord for ever.
Lux aeterna
I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord, for they rest from their labours: even so saith the Spirit.
Lux aeterna luceat eis, Domine:
Eternal light shine upon them, O Lord:
cum sanctis tuis in aeternum, quia pius es.
with all thy saints for evermore, for thy mercy’s sake.
Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine:
Rest eternal grant unto them, O Lord:
et lux perpetua luceat eis.
and may light perpetual shine upon them.
