On Wednesday, Choral Tenebrae will be sung at 7:30 pm.

O Vos Omnes

O vos omnes is a responsory, originally sung as part of Roman Catholic liturgies for Holy Week, and now often sung as a motet. The text is adapted from the Latin Vulgate translation of Lamentations 1:12. It was often set, especially in the sixteenth century, as part of the Tenebrae Responsories for Holy Saturday. This year at Christ Church Cathedral it will be sung at Tenebrae for Holy Thursday, anticipated on Wednesday evening.  Some of the most famous settings of the text are by Tomás Luis de Victoria (two settings for four voices: 1572 and 1585), Carlo Gesualdo (five voices: 1603; six voices: 1611), and Pablo Casals (mixed choir: 1932). (Wikipedia)

O all you who walk by on the road, pay attention and see:
Si est dolor similis sicut dolor meus.
if there be any sorrow like my sorrow.
Attendite, universi populi, et videte dolorem meum.
Pay attention, all people, and look at my sorrow:
Si est dolor similis sicut dolor meus.
if there be any sorrow like my sorrow.

Benedictus Dominus Deus Israel, quia visitavit, et fecit redemptionem plebis suae:
Blessed be the Lord, God of Israel, because He has visited us and wrought redemption for His people.
Et erexit cornu salutis nobis in domo David pueri sui.
And has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the House of David, His servant.
As He hath promised through the mouths of His holy ones, the prophets of old:
Salutem ex inimicis nostris, et de manu omnium qui oderunt nos:
Salvation from our enemies, and from the hand of all who hate us.
To show mercy to our forefathers and to be mindful of His holy covenant:
Iusiurandum, quod iuravit ad Abraham patrem nostrum, daturum se nobis;
The oath, which He swore to Abraham, our father, that He would grant us,
That being delivered from the hand of our enemies, we may serve Him without fear.
In sanctitate et iustitia coram ipso, omnibus diebus nostris.
In holiness and justice before Him all our days.
And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Most High; for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways,
To give knowledge of salvation to His people through forgiveness of their sins.
Because of the compassionate kindness of our God, the dawn from on high shall break upon us
To shine on those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, to guide our feet in the way of peace.
