Every Year the Province of Quebec, on the last weekend of September, sponsors Les Journées de la culture, this year on Friday through Sunday, September 26-28.
Christ Church Cathedral is participating with numerous activities. All are free but donations are always welcome.

Friday, September 26, 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm; 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm: Organ demonstration and Workshop
Discover the magnificent Karl Wilhelm organ with a demonstration by internationally renowned organist Patrick Wedd assisted by Adrian Foster and Alex Ross, as well as an opportunity to play the instrument yourself.
Friday, September 26, 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm: Liturgical Dance Workshop
Movement and dance workshop with former English National Ballet dancer, Rosemary Cass-Beggs. The workshop is inspired by JS Bach's Arioso and will feature live accompaniment by flute and harpsichord.
Friday, September 26, 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm: Gregorian Chant Workshop
Immerse yourself in the music of the monks with a workshop and demonstration of Gregorian chant, practised in the Christian Church for over 1000 years.
Friday, September 26. 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm: Hand bell ringing workshop
Try your hand at the Anglican practice of ringing changes (peals) on handbells and hear a demonstration by the cathedral bell-ringing ensemble, led by The Very Reverend Paul Kennington, Dean of Montreal.
Saturday, September 27, 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm: Concert of favorite
religious music
Sit back and enjoy a wonderful concert of well-known religious works played on the organ and sung by our celebrated Cathedral Choir. Join in some of your favourite spirituals and hymns.
Sunday, September 28, 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm: Choral Evensong with the Cathedral Choirs
Experience the fine Anglican Choral tradition, a jewel of the Anglican church dating back to the Reformation of 1549. Listen to sublime music and join with the Cathedral choir to sing hymns. Join us afterwards for English Tea on the Cathedral Lawn!
